Platinum Grammy award winner Bassie Dave, Dave Richards, originally from Kingston, Jamiaca has been playing music for over 30 years.  He had a humble beginning playing music in church and then transitioned to playing music in hotels in the North Coast of Jamaica. He later migrated to Florida and began playing music in Key West, Florida.

In 1998 he got an opportunity to tour with KyMani Marley.  He later toured with Burning Spears in 2001-2004    and Yellowman in 2004 which lasted about 8 years.

​

Bassie Dave currently tours with Shaggy and has been doing so since 2012.  He has performed with Shaggy and Sting and  received a Grammy nomination for his work.  He has toured internationally and nationally with Shaggy and has performed on various TV shows.

​

Over the years, he noticed and nurtured his children's, Dave Jr. and Michael, interest in music. Dave Jr. plays drums and Michael plays the bass as their main instrument.  They are versatile as they can play other instruments. 

​

While their father continue to play for Shaggy, Dave Jr. has began touring for Grammy Award Winner, Julian Marley and Koffee, playing drums.  Michael has also began touring with Koffee as well as Black Uhuru, playing bass guitar.

​

During this time Dave has developed a strong interest in singing and they formed a band, "Homebred",  with Dave as the singer and guitar player while his sons, Michael and Dave Jr. plays bass and drum.  They have been performing in Key West, Florida as well as other venues all over South Florida.

 

Homebred band decided to take their passion to the next level by writing, producing, playing, performing, and engineering their own music in their own studio.  They are currently working to release songs they have been working on for a few years.

Homebred mission is to push love through reggae music and music in general as a vehicle  to spread this message of love all across the globe.

​

New album coming out later this year.  They recently released a new single called "Sunshine".
